Is MSC Yacht Club Worth It? Our Honest Review After Sailing on MSC Virtuosa

Is MSC Yacht Club Worth It? Our Honest Review After Sailing on MSC Virtuosa

15 June 2026

When we first looked at booking MSC Yacht Club on MSC Virtuosa, we nearly didn't do it.

The price difference between a standard balcony cabin and Yacht Club was significant, and we found ourselves asking the same question many cruisers ask:

Is MSC Yacht Club really worth the extra money?

After spending several nights onboard MSC Virtuosa, the answer became surprisingly simple.

Yes.

In fact, we enjoyed it so much that we booked Yacht Club again just one week after returning home.

Why We Chose MSC Yacht Club

Our main goal wasn't luxury.

It wasn't a bigger cabin.

It wasn't even the butler service.

We simply wanted a more relaxed, stress-free cruise experience.

Having sailed on MSC Virtuosa before, we remembered the queues, the crowds, and the challenge of finding a sun lounger on sea days. We loved the ship, but sometimes it felt like we were sharing our holiday with thousands of other people.

Yacht Club promised something different.

A quieter experience.

Priority boarding.

Premium drinks.

Wi-Fi included.

Private areas away from the crowds.

Most importantly, it promised a holiday that felt effortless.

The Priority Embarkation Experience

The first sign that Yacht Club was different came before we even stepped onboard.

Instead of joining the main queues, we were directed to a dedicated Yacht Club check-in area.

Within minutes we were checked in, enjoying a welcome drink, and preparing to board.

A Yacht Club butler escorted us onto the ship and personally showed us to our cabin.

After previous experiences standing in queues and sorting out issues at Guest Services, this felt like a completely different way to start a cruise.

The holiday began immediately.

The Butler Service

Before sailing, we were incredibly curious about the butler service.

Neither of us had experienced anything like it before.

The reality was perhaps a little different from what we expected.

Our butler greeted us, escorted us to the cabin, explained the facilities and services available, and made it clear that she was available to help with bookings, reservations, and anything else we needed throughout the cruise.

Was it life-changing?

Not necessarily.

Was it useful?

Absolutely.

More importantly, it contributed to the overall feeling that everything had already been taken care of.

The Biggest Difference: Space

This was the feature that changed everything for us.

MSC Virtuosa can carry more than 6,000 guests.

Only around 250 to 300 guests have access to Yacht Club.

That difference becomes obvious very quickly.

On our previous sailing, finding a sun lounger on sea days was almost impossible.

We'd walk around the pool deck searching for somewhere to sit, only to find every lounger occupied.

In Yacht Club?

The rooftop pool area often felt almost empty.

The pool was quiet.

The hot tubs were quiet.

There was no competition for loungers.

No rushing.

No stress.

Just a peaceful space to relax.

For us, that alone was worth a significant portion of the upgrade cost.

Dining and Service

The Yacht Club restaurant offered a noticeably calmer dining experience.

While we enjoyed the main dining room on previous cruises, Yacht Club felt more intimate.

Service was excellent.

Staff quickly recognised guests.

Meals felt more relaxed.

And perhaps most importantly, we never found ourselves carrying plates around a crowded buffet searching for a table.

Breakfasts were particularly enjoyable.

No queues.

No waiting 20 minutes for an omelette.

No fighting through crowds.

Just a far more enjoyable start to each day.

Wi-Fi and Included Extras

One of the most underrated Yacht Club benefits was the inclusion of premium Wi-Fi.

Whether it's checking in on family, keeping an eye on work emails, or simply staying connected while at sea, having premium internet already included removed another expense and another decision.

The same applies to the Premium Extra Drinks Package.

On previous MSC cruises, we spent a considerable amount on drinks, Wi-Fi and onboard extras.

When we sat down and compared the total cost of a standard balcony cruise plus all those extras, the difference to Yacht Club was much smaller than we'd originally thought.

What Yacht Club Is Really Selling

Many people think Yacht Club is about luxury.

We don't think that's the full story.

For us, Yacht Club is selling something much more valuable:

Space. Peace. Time.

You're not paying for a bigger room, you're paying to avoid sharing every moment of your holiday with thousands of other people. That's what changed cruising for us.

Would We Book MSC Yacht Club Again?

Actually, we already have.

Just one week after returning from MSC Virtuosa, we booked MSC Euribia Yacht Club from Barcelona.

That probably tells you everything you need to know.

The priority embarkation.

The private spaces.

The quieter atmosphere.

The ability to enjoy all the entertainment and facilities of a large ship while still having a peaceful retreat whenever we wanted one.

It completely changed our cruise experience.

Final Verdict

MSC Yacht Club didn't ruin cruising for us because it was overly luxurious.

It ruined cruising for us because it showed us a better way to cruise.

Now that we've experienced the quiet sun deck, priority boarding, included extras and relaxed atmosphere, it's difficult to imagine returning to a standard cruise experience on a large ship.

For us, MSC Yacht Club wasn't about luxury, it was about enjoying the holiday we actually wanted - and that's why we've already booked our next one for 2027!
